Christmas in Oswestry is always magical with twinkly lights, lively markets, family friendly events, and lots of lovely independent shops and cafes to explore. Whether you live in Oswestry or you’re planning a day out, now is a most wonderful time of year to visit!

FREE PARKING
Shoppers and visitors driving into Oswestry also benefit from free weekend parking at Oswestry Town Council car parks in December. Park for free in Central, Horsemarket and Smithfield car parks on Saturday 6 December and Sunday 7 December, Saturday 13 December and Sunday 14 December, and Saturday 20 December and Sunday 21 December. Town centre bus services are also free on Saturdays. Shop, eat and be merry!

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON
20 Nov, from 4pm –  Bailey Head
The Christmas lights switch on marks the official start of Christmas in Oswestry. Carols, performances, festive fun and a special guest, HO, HO, HO! Lights switch on between 6-6.30pm.

CHRISTMAS LIVE
5 Dec, from 5pm – Town centre
Fairground rides, ice rink, Santa, live music, entertainment, market stalls, and late night shopping across the town.

CHRISTMAS PARADE
6 Dec, starts 11am –  Town centre
A joyous and unmissable parade organised by Borderland Rotary Club. Festive trucks, colourful floats, music, dancing and entertainment sprinkling festive magic along the way.

SANTA RUN
7 Dec –  Smithfield Street, race starts 9am
Shropshire’s largest 5k Santa Run brings a flash of red to Oswestry with thousands of runners dressed as Santa. Organised by Adrenaline Sporting Events, the event is for those aged 11 years up. Register ahead

ILLUMINATED TRACTOR RUN
13 Dec – Starts at 5pm from Oswestry Cattle Market
A giant convoy of illuminated tractors rolls through Oswestry and local villages with donations to Lingen Davies Cancer Charity in memory of Will “Choc” Roberts. Follow on Facebook for details Oswestry Illuminated Tractor Run
