Essential Notes for Business on Covid Testing, Self-isolation & more

Covid-19 Testing Options in Shropshire, Self-isolation requirements and Office Precautions

The latest information and advice with regard to COVID-19 support and precautionary measures.

Testing

Please see the attached information leaflet which provides an overview of the free testing options available in the Shropshire Council area, including ‘train the lead’ training. Businesses can find out more about the asymptomatic LFT training to support on-site testing and/or book training by emailing lateralflow.phtraining@shropshire.gov.uk

The ‘train the lead’ training is in two parts. The first involves e-learning which staff complete remotely, including assessment and certification upon completion.  Evidence of this is required prior to attending the second part (practical training to confidently and competently onsite test).  A minimum of two staff per organisation should attend.  Attendees are also required to book a LFT test at one of the community testing sites within 48 hours of attending the practical training at Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury.  LFTs can be booked via www.shropshire.gov.uk/lfdpublictesting

Self-Isolation

Staff must self-isolate when required. The NHS have provided information on self-isolation.  Always ensure full 10-day self-isolation takes place when:

  • A person has symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19
  • Someone you live with has symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19
  • You have been in close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 (including in the workplace).

Examples of close contact include:

  • close face to face contact (under 1 metre) for any length of time
  • being within 1 to 2 metres of each other for more than 15 minutes in total throughout the day
  • travelling in a small vehicle
  • a person spending lots of time in your home
  • when advised you are a close contact by Test and Trace, Shropshire Council or the NHS app.

The below diagram details the 10-day self-isolation requirements:

Self Isolate

Anyone who has been travelling and arrives in England from anywhere outside the UK or Ireland will also need to self-isolate for 10 days. Employees and workers who are required to self-isolate should not leave their home to go to their workplace.

Office Outbreaks

Recent data suggests that offices have had more COVID-19 outbreaks compared to other workplaces.  Due to the variant COVID-19 strains it is important to fully implement your controls and not enable COVID-19 to get a foothold in your business.

Regulatory Services at Shropshire Council have put together a webpage with advice on COVID prevention and dealing with positive cases in offices.  It can be found below:
https://www.shropshire.gov.uk/environmental-health/covid-19-guidance/preventing-covid-19-outbreaks-in-offices/

All controls should be detailed in your COVID risk assessment.  Guidance on how to complete your COVID risk assessment is included on the webpage.
