Congratulations to The Bailey Head Pub in Oswestry, named in the top three rural Independent Craft Beer Bars and Pubs in the UK by the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) – the third time in four years the pub has been named a finalist in the prestigious SIBA Business Awards, and the only pub or bar to have reached the final three times, having won the award last year and been a finalist in 2018.
Pub owners Duncan Borrowman and Grace Goodlad will be attending the awards ceremony by Zoom next week to see if they have picked up top spot. Grace says: “After a year like no other we are quite blown away to be in the final four again. We certainly did not expect to win the award last year, and to be in the final four this year is such an honour. The award is for pubs or bars which have shown an extraordinary commitment to serving the best quality and range of independent craft beers including cask, keg, bottle or can, but more importantly I cannot say how grateful we are to all our customers for their support, something we have really seen clearly over the last year is what a kind and caring community we are lucky to have around us.
“We hear from customers every single day either sharing their news or checking in on us. The Bailey Head isn’t just our home and our business, its our community and our family. Our team have been fantastic over the last year too with some of them regularly taking part in pub zoom chats, and others taking a strong lead in our online community. WE are incredibly grateful to Steve, Jonny and Emma for all their help and support this year.
“Much as we are very excited and grateful to be in the final four, the real prize for this year is when we will be able to get back to being open as normal and seeing all our friends and family again.”
