This week Oswestry BID launches it’s ‘Get Home Safe Campaign’

Oswestry BID, whilst encouraging everyone to enjoy visiting Oswestry’s lively, friendly, pubs, cocktail bars and restaurants this festive season, we also wanted to remind everyone to ‘Get Home Safe’.

Therefore Oswestry BID has worked with ARRIVA to underwrite a Night Bus that will run Friday and Saturday nights throughout December.

The Night Bus is there to assist with transporting people into our lovely town, to enjoy all it has to offer, but more importantly it will provide an option for them to get home safely at the end of the night!

Oswestry BID will also be providing two Taxi Marshals, through Valley Security, from 11.00pm – 4.00am on the following dates through December – 7th, 14th, 20th, 21st, 28th and 31st. This to ensure the Taxi rank is properly managed, which again will assist the public and our taxi drivers.

COMMENT FROM ADELE NIGHTINGALE, Oswestry BID Manager

“Oswestry has a lot to offer on a night out, we have some great venues both old and new, and we see these two initiatives as being a vital part of supporting Oswestry’s Nightime Economy”

COMMENT FROM INSP TRACY RYAN, Safe Neighbourhood Team,

“Making sure our communities stay safe and sound when socialising at Christmas is a priority for West Mercia Police.  This initiative from BID is fantastic, the provision of taxi marshals and a night bus supports us by making it easier, safer and quicker for revellers to get home meaning less possibility for disorder thus freeing up police resources.

COMMENT FROM JAMIE CROWSLEY – ARRIVA Manager for Oswestry

“Arriva are proud to work alongside Oswestry BID to deliver this seasonal trial as part of the Get Home Safe campaign. This trial offers additional capacity for those looking to travel home after an evening enjoying Oswestry’s bustling night time economy during this year’s festive season”
